Lebanon health care consists of a wide range of both private and public hospitals. Public hospitals in Lebanon usually have a much lower standard than that of private hospitals. There is a high standard of medical and dental care throughout Lebanon, especially in Beirut and it's surrounding areas. Many, if not all, health professionals speak Arabic and/or French, in addition to English.
Medical facilities in Lebanon hospitals may require an immediate cash payment on admission, even in emergency cases it is important to be aware that Lebanese hospitals may not receive emergency patients who are unable to pay for their treatment. Medical costs vary between hospitals and clinics, private facilities are generally much more expensive. Due to this, expatriates living in Lebanon are strongly encouraged to obtain a Lebanon international medical insurance policy.
Most employees in Lebanon have their healthcare insurance covered by their employer. The Lebanese Labour Ministry usually demands that all workers are covered by health insurance. If you are staying in Lebanon and not working you should consider looking for private health insurance.
One option would be to contact one of the many private insurance companies offering custom made health insurance packages. This way you can visit a number of Lebanon hospitals for free or for a small charge.
